Starting a bit Young Perhaps?
Police in New Port Richey are arresting kids young these days. Being nine won't stop them from handcuffing a child anymore either. Seriously, is the kid going to run off? Pull a knife on the cop? Pull a gun out of their training bra?? While I do agree that the child should have been picked up and placed under police custody for stealing, the police were insensitive to the needs of the child on this one. I'm quite sure that being handcuffed will stick with that child for the rest of her life, I know it would certainly haunt me for the rest of mine! At the age of nine, I think it would be acceptable to place the child in the police car, keep an eye on her, and take her down to the station.
